Tacking Poverty
Young people discuss their experiences of poverty across Northumberland. They anticipate a future that is less certain than the life experiences of adults around them. University and further education are no longer seen as proven routes to productive employment. What do young people need from adults in local authority area like Northumberland?

Who Do You Think You Are?
Concerns around Anti Social behaviour are often focussed on young people hanging around and causing ‘problems’, however, simply moving young people on can place them in unsafe areas and doesn’t address the core issues. This video drama looks at a group of friends coming into unnecessary conflict with an older couple and highlights fixed attitudes from different perspectives. How safe is this kind of behaviour for all concerned and what are the immediate and long-term consequences for individuals and communities?

Good But Misunderstood
A multimedia project exploring perceptions of young people and how crime and antisocial behaviour affects them. Many older people see young people as perpetrators of crime and anti social behaviour, but young people themselves are more likely to be victims of crime or feel unsafe on the streets. “Some people say that young people are anti social hooligans but 75% of young people aged 10-15 have been assaulted” BUT “Young people are at greater risk of violent crime than older people”.
Produced with young people from Oxclose School, Washington.
Below are twelve images produced for an exhibition at Washington Arts Centre

Drinking Friends?
Young people involved with the Sunderland North Alternative Curriculum project looked at their own experiences of drinking and smoking.
They wanted to create a drama resource for primary school children around these issues. Why do teenagers drink and where do they get alcohol from? How does behaviour change when drunk and what happens to friendships in these situations? What are the consequences?
With Hylton Redhouse School and The Princes’ Trust.
