Racism
From Brno to Benwell
This is a story of Roma activist, Miro Simko and his struggle to improve life for himself, his family and his community.
Within the relatively small area of Benwell, many hundred Roma families, fleeing the racism of the former Czechoslovakia, have also settled and are trying to create a better life or themselves. How will they succeed against the barriers of language and the rules and regulations of a very different country? Can Miro and other Czech Roma volunteers create a Centre to provide much needed help or will their ambitions outstrip the resources available in the time scale they’ve set?
